The SW1 Gallery has been born out of the close working relationship between Westminster City Council and the developer, Land Securities. The City Council has always been keen to encourage connections between the arts and the South Westminster community and was aware that the southern area of the borough had limited facilities for exhibiting art. With this in mind, they felt that a gallery would be an invaluable addition to Cardinal Place and a wonderful resource for the whole area
